Adrian Peterson
2007 · Round 1 · Pick 7 · RB · Minnesota Vikings
Adrian Peterson was born in Palestine, Texas, and played at Palestine High School. His parents were both college athletes; his mother was a three-time Texas state champion who ran track at the University of Houston. In 2004 he set the NCAA freshman rushing record with 1,925 yards at Oklahoma, was a unanimous All-American, and became the first freshman to finish second in the Heisman voting. Minnesota drafted him seventh overall in 2007. As a rookie he set the NFL single-game rushing record of 296 yards and was Offensive Rookie of the Year. In 2012, less than a year after tearing his ACL and MCL, he ran for 2,097 yards, nine short of Eric Dickerson's record, and won NFL MVP. He was suspended for most of 2014 after being indicted on a child-injury charge. He made seven Pro Bowls and four first-team All-Pro teams, led the NFL in rushing three times, and finished his 15-season career with 14,918 rushing yards and 120 rushing touchdowns. He is retired. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio.
