Chuck Thomas
1985 · Round 8 · Pick 199 · C · Houston Oilers
Chuck Thomas was born in Houston and played at Stratford High School. He was first-team All-Big Eight at center for Oklahoma in 1983 and second-team in 1982 and 1984. Houston drafted him in the eighth round, 199th overall, in 1985, but he played that season for Atlanta and then spent 1987 to 1992 with San Francisco. He played 73 NFL games. Tidbit: he won titles at three levels: a Texas Class 4A state title with Stratford in 1978, the 1985 national title with OU, and Super Bowls XXIII and XXIV with the 49ers. Note: public sources on him are thin, so this bio is short. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. The Oklahoman wrote on March 28, 1982: "The left guard position next to Graham is open and will be fought over by Rocky Hubble and Paul Ferrer while Chuck Thomas and David Dillingham will battle to replace Bill Bechtold at center, the critical spot of any offensive line."
