De'Mond Parker
1999 · Round 5 · Pick 159 · RB · Green Bay Packers
De'Mond Parker is from Tulsa and starred at Booker T. Washington High School. He ran for more than 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons at Oklahoma (1996–1998), starting as a true freshman, and all three seasons rank in OU's all-time top 20. In the 1997 Red River game he ran for 291 yards, outrushing future Heisman winner Ricky Williams and setting the record for an OU-Texas game. When Bob Stoops arrived in 1999 as Parker's third head coach, Parker skipped his senior season despite Stoops' attempts to keep him. Green Bay drafted him in the fifth round, 159th overall, in 1999. In his only NFL start he ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns. He later joined Detroit but didn't play. He ranks eighth on OU's career rushing list. The Oklahoman wrote on November 15, 1998: "With 207 yards, Parker passed Billy Sims, Steve Owens and Joe Washington in the record book, becoming the only player in the history of OU football to run for more than 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons." The Lawton Constitution wrote on October 12, 1997: "Parker ran roughshod over a beleaguered Texas defense for a career-high 291 yards on 31 carries."
