Dub Lamb
1943 · Round 10 · Pick 89 · E · Chicago Bears
Walter "Dub" Lamb was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and played at Ardmore High School. He lettered three years at end for Oklahoma (1940–1942) and was first-team All-Big Six in 1942. The Chicago Bears drafted him in the 10th round, 89th overall, in 1943, but he served in the Army Air Forces first. He signed in 1946 and played all 11 games, catching one pass for 10 yards. He was on the Bears team that won the 1946 NFL Championship Game, 24–14 over the Giants. He was released in 1947 and died on January 5, 1991. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. Name note: Pro Football Reference lists him as "Walt Lamb." The Daily Oklahoman wrote on April 9, 1943 (NewsBank page 16) that "W. G. "Dub" Lamb, Oklahoma end now in the air crops [sic], and Lloyd Arms, Oklahoma Aggies' tackle who is still in school, were picked by the Chicago Bears."
