Duke Robinson
2009 · Round 5 · Pick 163 · OL · Carolina Panthers
George "Duke" Robinson was born in Atlanta and played at Washington High School. He played guard for Oklahoma from 2005 to 2008. He was a consensus All-American in 2007, which made him OU's 143rd All-American, and was a consensus All-American again in 2008. He was also a two-time first-team All-Big 12 pick, and Sports Illustrated named him to its All-Decade Team. Many analysts rated him the top guard prospect for the 2009 draft, but after a poor performance in the BCS title game he fell to the fifth round, where Carolina took him 163rd overall. He was with the Panthers from 2009 to 2011, spent time with Tennessee, and then played several Arena Football League seasons. He is retired. Tidbit: he is the grandnephew of singer-songwriter Smokey Robinson. The Oklahoman wrote on December 29, 2007: "That animalistic mentality helped earn Robinson first-team All-Big 12 and consensus All-American honors."
