Dwight Drane
1984 · Round Supplemental 1 · Pick 14 · DB · Buffalo Bills
Dwight Drane was born in Miami and played at Miami Central Senior High School. He played safety at Oklahoma. Buffalo took him in the first round (14th pick) of the 1984 supplemental draft of USFL and CFL players. He played the 1984 season for the USFL's Los Angeles Express, joined the Bills in 1986, and anchored their secondary through 1991. Conflict resolved: OU's draft list shows the Dolphins, but Wikipedia's list, his own article and Pro Football Reference's OU draft table (Buffalo, supplemental round 1, pick 14) all say Buffalo. This bio uses the Bills. Pro Football Reference (PFR) lists him: born May 6, 1962 in Miami, FL; high school Miami Central (FL); 6-1, 200 lb; position DB. PFR shows him with BUF 1986-91 (82 games, 12 starts, 9 Approximate Value). PFR stat line: 6 yrs: 1 Int (25 yds), 1 FR, 2.0 sacks; postseason 8 G, 2 GS. PFR shows no Pro Bowl or All-Pro honors. PFR also notes: header wAV 8. The Oklahoman wrote on September 1, 1983: "He believes Dwight Drane is one of the top corners."
