Fred Nixon
1980 · Round 4 · Pick 87 · WR · Green Bay Packers
Fred Nixon was born in Camilla, Georgia, and played at Carol City High School in Miami Gardens, Florida. He was first-team All-Big Eight at Oklahoma in 1977. Green Bay drafted him in the fourth round, 87th overall, in 1980, and he played two seasons for the Packers before a stress fracture in his foot cost him 1982. He later signed with the USFL's Oklahoma Outlaws but retired after being hospitalized for heat exhaustion in 1984, then signed with the Orlando Renegades. His NFL totals are six catches for 105 yards in 23 games. Note: public sources on him are thin, so this bio is short. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. The Oklahoman wrote on November 1, 1983: "The Oklahoma Outlaws have announced the signing of eight more players to United States Football League contracts, including former Oklahoma wide receiver Fred Nixon."
