Kyler Murray
2019 · Round 1 · Pick 1 · QB · Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray was born in Bedford, Texas, and went 42-0 as Allen High School's starting quarterback. He won three state titles and was the first two-time Mr. Texas Football. After one season at Texas A&M, he transferred to Oklahoma, and in 2018 he won the Heisman Trophy, Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award and AP Player of the Year while making first-team All-America. The Oakland Athletics drafted him ninth overall in the 2018 MLB draft, and Arizona took him first overall in the 2019 NFL draft. He is the first player chosen in the first round of both drafts. He was the 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, made Pro Bowls in 2020 and 2021, and led the Cardinals to the 2021 playoffs. After injury-hit seasons Arizona released him, and he signed with Minnesota in 2026. His career totals are 21,122 passing yards and 123 touchdown passes. Tidbit: he was the first player picked for both the Under Armour All-America baseball and football games. The Oklahoman wrote on September 26, 2018: "Wearing the kimono jacket last Saturday was a calculated choice for Murray, whose grandmother on his mom's side is South Korean."
