Landry Jones
2013 · Round 4 · Pick 115 · QB · Pittsburgh Steelers
Landry Jones was born in Artesia, New Mexico. At Artesia High School he led back-to-back Class 4A state titles, throwing for 3,433 yards, 45 touchdowns and no interceptions as a senior, and he is considered the highest-ranked recruit ever from New Mexico. He chose Oklahoma, calling it "the QB college." He was thrust into action in the 2009 opener when Sam Bradford hurt his shoulder, and in his second start he threw a school-record six touchdown passes. He won the 2010 Sammy Baugh Trophy and was second-team All-Big 12 in 2010 and 2012. Pittsburgh drafted him in the fourth round, 115th overall, in 2013, and he spent five seasons as a backup to Ben Roethlisberger. He later spent time with Jacksonville and Oakland and played for the XFL's Dallas Renegades in 2020. His NFL totals are 1,310 passing yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. His infobox now lists him with the Tennessee Volunteers. The Oklahoman wrote on October 19, 2010: "His father, Kevin Jones, said their family always attended church." The same article says: "Last season, Jones unexpectedly became OU's quarterback after Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford twice was sidelined by a shoulder injury."
