Leon Manley
1950 · Round 7 · Pick 82 · G · Green Bay Packers
Leon Manley was born in Hollis, Oklahoma, and played at Hollis High School with his childhood friend Darrell Royal. He lettered three seasons at guard for Oklahoma (1947–1949). Green Bay drafted him in the seventh round, 82nd overall, in 1950, and he played for the Packers in 1950 and 1951. He then won the 1954 Grey Cup with Edmonton. He became a longtime assistant to Royal at Texas, first as offensive line coach and later as offensive coordinator. He died in Austin in March 2010. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. Name note: Pro Football Reference lists him as "Willie Manley." The Daily Oklahoman wrote on September 8, 1949 (NewsBank page 37): "The line included Bobby Goad and Jim Owens at ends, Wade Walker and Leon Manley at tackles, Dee Andros and Clair Mayes at guards and Bob Bodenhamer at center."
