Marcus Dupree
1986 · Round 12 · Pick 327 · RB · Los Angeles Rams
Marcus Dupree is from Philadelphia, Mississippi, and was one of the most heavily recruited high school players of his era. He ran a 4.29-second 40 and scored a touchdown on his first high school play. At Oklahoma in 1982 he was Football News Freshman of the Year, Big Eight Newcomer of the Year, first-team All-Big Eight and a third-team All-American. He left OU in the middle of his sophomore season, went briefly to Southern Miss, and signed with the USFL's New Orleans Breakers in 1984. A knee injury forced him out of football after two seasons. He came back with the Los Angeles Rams in 1990 and played 15 games over two seasons. The Rams had drafted him in the 12th round, 327th overall, in 1986. Note: Pro Football Reference's OU draft table doesn't include his 1986 pick, so no PFR link is cited. The Oklahoman wrote on January 17, 1982: "The two biggest names on OU's national recruiting list _ running back Marcus Dupree of Philadephia [sic], Miss., and quarterback Matt Stennett of Pittsburgh _ are still only one-in-six shots to come to Norman ."
