Marquise Brown
2019 · Round 1 · Pick 25 · WR · Baltimore Ravens
Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was born in Hollywood, Florida, where his Pop Warner league also included Lamar Jackson, though they played on different teams. He ran track at South Broward High and then Chaminade-Madonna. With no Division I offers, he went to College of the Canyons in California and worked at Six Flags Magic Mountain to get by. Oklahoma signed him the next year. In his first season he led OU with 1,095 receiving yards and set the school single-game record with 265 yards against Oklahoma State; in 2018 he was a first-team All-American. Baltimore drafted him in the first round, 25th overall, in 2019, the first receiver taken. In his debut he became the first NFL player with two 40-plus-yard touchdowns in his first game. He has also played for Arizona and Kansas City, and he is now with Philadelphia. His career totals are 371 catches, 4,322 yards and 33 touchdowns. Tulsa World wrote on November 8, 2017: "James raised Brown and his older sister, Shanice, on her own, with help from her parents."
