Nic Harris

2009 · Round 5 · Pick 147 · S · Buffalo Bills

Nic Harris was born in Alexandria, Louisiana. At Alexandria Senior High School he set a school record with 21 interceptions and returned nine of them for touchdowns, and he chose Oklahoma over Michigan. He started two games at free safety as a true freshman in 2005. In 2006 he led OU with four interceptions and was second-team All-Big 12. He then made first-team All-Big 12 in 2007 and 2008 and was a third-team All-American in 2008. Buffalo drafted him in the fifth round, 147th overall, in 2009, and he moved to linebacker in the NFL. After stints with the Bills and Carolina (2010), he finished with 67 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He later played in Brazil and Italy. Tidbit: when he and fellow freshman Reggie Smith started in OU's secondary against Kansas State in 2005, it was only the second time in school history that two freshmen had started there. The Oklahoman wrote on September 27, 2007: "At their young ages, they could not provide a conventional home life, so Harris found himself shuttled from house to house among his family and friends."
