Paul Tabor
1980 · Round 5 · Pick 130 · C · Chicago Bears
Paul Tabor was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and played at Spring Branch High School in Houston. He was a center at Oklahoma, second-team All-Big Eight in 1978 and first-team in 1979. He was drafted in the fifth round, 130th overall, in 1980, and played 16 games at center and guard for the Chicago Bears that season. Conflict resolved: Pro Football Reference's OU draft table and OU's list both say the Chicago Bears made the pick, while Wikipedia's list says Green Bay. Two sources agree, so this bio uses the Bears. Tidbit: he is the identical twin of fellow Sooner Phil Tabor. Pro Football Reference (PFR) lists him as Paul Carrol Tabor: born November 30, 1956 in Little Rock, AR; high school Spring Branch (TX); 6-4, 241 lb; position C-G. PFR shows him with CHI 1980 (16 games, 1 Approximate Value). PFR stat line: 0 penalties shown. PFR shows no Pro Bowl or All-Pro honors. PFR also notes: Relatives: Brother Phil Tabor. The Oklahoman wrote on April 19, 1992: "Paul Tabor, an All-Big Eight center in 1979 and a Norman restaurateur now, told coaches he would play one series."
