Quentin Griffin
2003 · Round 4 · Pick 108 · RB · Denver Broncos
Quentin Griffin was born in Houston and starred at Nimitz High School. He started three seasons at running back for Oklahoma, and on the 2000 national title team he ran for six touchdowns against Texas, a school record. As a senior in 2002 he ran for 1,884 yards and was a second-team All-American. He finished fourth in OU history in career rushing (3,756 yards) and third in touchdowns (44). Denver drafted him in the fourth round, 108th overall, in 2003. In the 2004 opener he ran for 156 yards and three touchdowns against Kansas City, a Broncos record for an opener, but he tore his ACL in Week 7. He later played in NFL Europe and Germany. His NFL totals are 656 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Tidbit: Wikipedia says he chose not to break Billy Sims' all-purpose yards record. The Oklahoman wrote on August 19, 2001: "Two years ago, Griffin arrived as a 5-6, 172-pounder who shared time as a running back at Nimitz High School in Aldine, Texas."
