Reggie Smith

2008 · Round 3 · Pick 75 · CB · San Francisco 49ers

Reggie Smith was born in Edmond, Oklahoma, and played at Edmond Santa Fe High School. He was a Freshman All-American at Oklahoma in 2005, first-team All-Big 12 in 2006 and 2007, and the preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2007, when he made 78 tackles and three interceptions. San Francisco drafted him in the third round, 75th overall, in 2008. The 49ers moved him from cornerback to safety in 2009, and that year he returned his first career interception for a touchdown against Indianapolis. He became a starter in Week 11 of 2010. After the 49ers (2008–2011), he had offseason stints with Carolina and Oakland. His career totals are 64 tackles and two interceptions, and he is retired. Note: the details of his OU career are thin, so this bio is short. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. The Oklahoman wrote on August 19, 2006: "Learning a new position isn't new to Smith, who played running back, receiver, quarterback and defensive back, along with returning kicks, during his four-year career at Edmond Santa Fe High School."
