Rodney Anderson

2019 · Round 6 · Pick 211 · RB · Cincinnati Bengals

Rodney Anderson is from Katy, Texas. At Katy High School he won a state title as a sophomore and ran for 5,493 career yards. He switched his commitment from Texas A&M to Oklahoma, but a broken leg ended his 2015 freshman season and a neck injury wiped out 2016. When he was healthy in 2017, he ran for 1,161 yards and 13 touchdowns and was second-team All-Big 12. In the Rose Bowl after that season, a College Football Playoff semifinal, he ran for 201 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia. A knee injury ended his 2018 season two games in. Cincinnati drafted him in the sixth round, 211th overall, in 2019, but he tore his ACL in the final preseason game. The Bengals waived him with a failed-physical designation in August 2020. Tulsa World wrote on August 28, 2018: "Football began early for Anderson, who grew up in an athletic family with a father who played basketball and a mother who played tennis and volleyball." The same article says: "Katy High School is where Anderson made a name for himself."
