Steve Sewell
1985 · Round 1 · Pick 26 · RB · Denver Broncos
Steve Sewell was born in San Francisco and ran for 1,723 career yards at Archbishop Riordan High School. At Oklahoma he played in 47 games and averaged 6.3 yards per carry and 17.0 per catch. His 295 all-purpose yards against Kansas State in 1984 were then the third-best game in OU history, and he was second-team All-Big Eight that year. Denver drafted him in the first round, 26th overall, in 1985. He spent his whole career with the Broncos (1985–1991) and played in Super Bowls XXI, XXII and XXIV. He finished with 917 rushing yards, 187 catches for 2,354 yards and 26 touchdowns. He later became head football coach at Overland High School in Aurora, Colorado. Note: public sources on him are thin, so this bio is short. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. The Oklahoman wrote on November 15, 1981: "With 1:42 to play and the stadium already a den of chaotic celebration, freshman halfback Steve Sewell hauled in a deflected pass from Shepard and galloped 46 yards for a TD."
