Stockar McDougle

2000 · Round 1 · Pick 20 · T · Detroit Lions

Stockar McDougle was born in Pompano Beach, Florida, and was one of the country's top offensive line prospects at Deerfield Beach High School. He was a junior-college All-American twice at Navarro College before transferring to Oklahoma in 1998, and he was a third-team All-American in 1999. Detroit drafted him in the first round, 20th overall, in 2000. In 2003 and 2004 he started every game at right tackle, and in 2003 the Lions allowed a franchise-record-low 11 sacks. He later played for Miami (2005) and Jacksonville, where a ruptured Achilles cost him the 2007 season. He started 56 of 81 NFL games. Tidbit: he is the older brother of defensive end Jerome McDougle and a cousin of Tyrone Carter and fellow Sooner Tommie Harris. The Oklahoman wrote on April 13, 2000: "Saturday, McDougle will gather with a small group of family and friends in his hometown of Deerfield Beach, Fla." The same article says: "In 1998, after transferring from Navarro (Texas) Community College, McDougle struggled with mistakes, including a penchant for penalties."
