Torrance Marshall

2001 · Round 3 · Pick 72 · LB · Green Bay Packers

Torrance Marshall was born in Miami and played at Miami Sunset Senior High. Academic issues kept him out of the University of Miami, so he went through Kemper Military School, where he made 198 tackles, and Miami-Dade Community College before reaching Oklahoma in 1999. He was a two-year co-captain and a third-team All-American in 2000. He was MVP of the Orange Bowl played in January 2001, when OU beat Florida State for the national title, and later MVP of the Senior Bowl. Green Bay drafted him in the third round, 72nd overall, in 2001. With the Packers (2001–2004) he played linebacker and special teams, filled in at fullback in 2002, and served a four-game substance-abuse suspension in 2003. In the Arena Football League he set the Tampa Bay Storm's single-season record with 17 rushing touchdowns. Tidbit: he is the nephew of former NFL player Harvey Clayton. The Oklahoman wrote on November 25, 2020: "Marshall’s brother, Sheven, was coming out of high school and wanted to go to Miami, and Torrance thought it would be nice to reunite with his brother as Hurricanes."
