Joe Moore Award guard who brought brains and brawn to the Sooner line

Dru Samia grew up in Danville, California, and starred at San Ramon Valley High School. A four-star offensive tackle recruit, he chose Oklahoma out of 15 scholarship offers.

Samia played for the Sooners from 2015 to 2018 and was a key part of some of the best offensive lines in the country. In 2018 he moved from right tackle to right guard and thrived, helping Oklahoma win the Joe Moore Award as the nation's top offensive line. He was named a second-team All-American, first-team All-Big 12, and Big 12 co-Offensive Lineman of the Year. He was also a two-time member of the All-Big 12 Academic Team.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Samia in the fourth round (114th overall) of the 2019 NFL draft, and he spent two seasons in Minnesota, appearing in 15 games with four starts. He later spent time with the New York Jets and signed with the Arlington Renegades of the XFL in late 2023.

Samia is now a former NFL player. Sooner fans will remember him as a tough, smart lineman who helped pave the way for one of the most explosive offenses in college football history.
