Eric Gray

Running back / kick returner · No club · free agent · OU 2021-2022

Three-time Tennessee Mr. Football who ran wild for the 2022 Sooners

Eric Gray was a Memphis legend before he ever reached college. At Lausanne Collegiate School he won two state championships and was named Tennessee Mr. Football three straight years. As a junior alone he ran for 3,151 yards and 45 touchdowns.

He started at Tennessee (2019–2020), setting a Volunteers freshman record with 246 rushing yards against Vanderbilt. He then transferred to Oklahoma for 2021–2022. After a solid first year in Norman, he took over the backfield in 2022, running for 1,366 yards and 11 touchdowns, including a 211-yard game at West Virginia, and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors.

The New York Giants drafted him in the fifth round (172nd overall) in 2023, and he contributed as a running back and kick returner through 2025. Gray was waived on August 30, 2026, then signed to the Cleveland Browns' practice squad on September 15 and released from it in early October. As of October 8, 2026, he is a free agent.

His speed in the return game should earn him another look soon.
