'Hollywood': from Six Flags paychecks to first-round speedster
Marquise Brown was born in Hollywood, Florida, and ran track and played football at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School, clocking 10.90 seconds in the 100 meters. He received no Division I scholarship offers, so he took the junior college route at College of the Canyons in California in 2016.
One year later he was a Sooner, and the rest is history. In 2017 he led Oklahoma with 1,095 receiving yards and set the school's single-game receiving record with 265 yards against Oklahoma State. In 2018 he earned first-team All-American honors before declaring for the draft.
The Baltimore Ravens drafted him in the first round (25th overall) in 2019. He spent three seasons in Baltimore, then two each with the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. On March 17, 2026, he signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, joining fellow ex-Sooner Jalen Hurts.
As of October 8, 2026, Brown is an active wide receiver for the Eagles. His journey from unrecruited speedster to first-rounder is one of the great underdog stories in recent OU history.
