Kenny King

Running back · 1 selection · retired · OU 1975-1978

A Pro Bowl season that ended with a record catch in Super Bowl XV

Kenny King played tailback and fullback in Barry Switzer's wishbone at Oklahoma and led the Sooners in rushing in 1976 with 791 yards, sharing the backfield with Billy Sims. Houston drafted him in the third round in 1979, then traded him to the Oakland Raiders after one season.

His first year in Oakland, 1980, was his Pro Bowl season. It ended in the Super Bowl, where King caught an 80-yard touchdown pass in the Raiders' 27-10 win over Philadelphia in Super Bowl XV. That was a Super Bowl record until Antonio Freeman's 81-yarder in Super Bowl XXXI.

King stayed with the Raiders through their move to Los Angeles and also started in their Super Bowl XVIII win.

Sources on his Pro Bowl are limited mainly to Pro-Football-Reference, Wikipedia and OU's Pro Bowl page, which all list 1980.
