Lane Johnson

Offensive tackle · 6 selections · retired · OU 2009-2012

The right tackle who called out the Pro Bowl's left-tackle bias, then made six of them

Lane Johnson's first Pro Bowl came after the 2017 season, when he was also a first-team All-Pro. The Eagles went on to win Super Bowl LII, so he didn't play in the all-star game.

The next year he wasn't on the original roster, and he made his frustration public. "I feel there is no Pro Bowl for right tackles. It's all left tackles," he said. He got in anyway as a replacement for Dallas' Tyron Smith, which made it two straight selections.

It happened again after the 2019 season. After tweeting "No right tackle love, @NFL? You'll see..." when the rosters came out, he was added in place of Green Bay's David Bakhtiari. The Eagles pointed out he was the only true right tackle on the NFC squad. That was his third straight selection, making him only the third tackle in team history with three in a row.

After a two-year gap, he went back for the 2022 season (another Super Bowl trip, to Super Bowl LVII), then was voted a starter for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. His sixth selection put him behind only Jason Kelce and Jason Peters, with seven each, for the most Pro Bowls by an Eagles offensive lineman. His 2024 season ended with a win in Super Bowl LIX.

Six selections ranks third among the 14 ex-Sooners soonersblog.com follows, behind Trent Williams and Adrian Peterson.
