Mike Thomas

Running back · 1 selection · deceased · OU 1972 (transferred to UNLV)

Offensive Rookie of the Year, then a Pro Bowler in his second season

Mike Thomas, from Greenville, Texas, was on Oklahoma's 1972 roster before finishing his college career at UNLV, where he was a two-time Little All-American. OU's Pro Bowl page includes him, and Pro-Football-Reference lists him among Oklahoma's NFL players.

Washington drafted him in the fifth round in 1975. He ran for 919 yards as a rookie and was named AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. The next season, 1976, he ran for more than 1,100 yards as Washington returned to the playoffs as a wild card, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl.

He played four seasons in Washington and two in San Diego, retiring after 1980.

Sources on his Pro Bowl are limited mainly to Pro-Football-Reference, Wikipedia and OU's Pro Bowl page, which all list 1976.
