Safety · 5 selections · retired · OU 1998-2001

"Superman" at OU, then five straight Pro Bowls in Dallas

Roy Williams was the hard-hitting safety on Oklahoma's 2000 national championship team, and in 2001 he won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Jim Thorpe Award as a unanimous All-American. He was nicknamed "Superman" at OU. The Dallas Cowboys took him eighth overall in the 2002 draft.

In his second season, 2003, he made his first Pro Bowl and was a first-team All-Pro, playing on the NFL's top-ranked defense for a Cowboys team that reached the playoffs for the first time since 1999. He went back after the 2004, 2005 and 2006 seasons too. After the 2007 season he was named, on January 3, 2008, as the replacement for Washington safety Sean Taylor, giving him five straight selections, 2003 through 2007, all with Dallas.

He finished his career with two seasons in Cincinnati. In 2022 he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. His five Pro Bowls tie him with Keith Jackson, CeeDee Lamb and Greg Pruitt among former Sooners.
