A Pauls Valley safety who made the Pro Bowl in a Super Bowl season

Tony Peters was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and played for the Sooners in 1973 and 1974. He earned second-team All-Big Eight honors in 1974, when Oklahoma won the national championship.

He began his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns in 1975 and played four seasons there before joining the Washington Redskins in 1979. In 1982, his fourth season in Washington, he earned Pro Bowl honors, his only selection, and helped the Redskins win Super Bowl XVII.

He played 10 NFL seasons in all, finishing with Washington in 1985. That gives him a college national title and a Super Bowl ring, with his lone Pro Bowl coming in the Super Bowl season.

Sources on his Pro Bowl are limited mainly to Pro-Football-Reference, Wikipedia and OU's Pro Bowl page, which all list 1982.
