R Mason Thomas

Second-round edge rusher with a one-letter first name

R Mason Thomas was born in Pompano Beach, Florida, and attended Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale. Over his junior and senior seasons he combined for 109 tackles and 19 sacks. He originally committed to Iowa State before switching to Oklahoma.

Thomas developed steadily over four seasons in Norman (2022–2025). He played in 10 games as a true freshman and nine as a sophomore. In 2024 his playing time grew, and he had a breakout game against Tulane with three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2024, and as a senior in 2025 he moved up to first-team All-SEC.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Thomas in the second round (40th overall) of the 2026 NFL draft. He has already recorded his first NFL sack.

As of October 8, 2026, Thomas is an active defensive end for the Chiefs, joining a Kansas City locker room that includes fellow Sooners Creed Humphrey and James Winchester.
