Samaje Perine
Running back · Cincinnati Bengals · active · OU 2014-2016
Still the FBS single-game rushing record holder: 427 yards
Samaje Perine was born in Jackson, Alabama, and played high school football at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville, Texas.
At Oklahoma (2014–2016) Perine wrote his name into the record books as a true freshman. In 2014 he ran for 427 yards and five touchdowns on 34 carries against Kansas, breaking the FBS single-game rushing record that Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon had set just one week earlier. That record still stands. He earned second-team All-American honors that season, and in the January 2017 Sugar Bowl he passed Billy Sims to become Oklahoma's career rushing leader with 4,122 yards.
Washington drafted Perine in the fourth round (114th overall) in 2017. He later spent time with the Miami Dolphins and then the Cincinnati Bengals, where he scored a 41-yard touchdown catch from Joe Burrow in the AFC Championship Game against Kansas City. After stints with the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs, he returned to Cincinnati in 2025.
As of October 8, 2026, Perine is an active running back for the Bengals, alongside fellow Sooner Orlando Brown Jr.
