Kickoff for the 2017 OU Spring Game presented by U.S. Fleet Tracking is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

OU Football season ticket holders will receive information on how they can reserve their free tickets for the contest with their 2017 ticket renewal packet. The deadline for all Sooner Club donations is March 31, and the season-ticket renewal deadline is April 12.

Season ticket holders are eligible to request the same number of seats for the OU Spring Game as they have for regular season games. University of Oklahoma students will also receive free admission to the game by showing a current OU ID at the gate. Sooner Jr. Kids Club members will also receive complimentary admission.

OU Spring Game tickets will be available for purchase on Wednesday, Feb. 8 beginning at 8 a.m. CT. Fans can purchase $5 seats here or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office at (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at (800) 456-4668 (online orders subject to nominal convenience fee at time of purchase). University of Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops announced his program’s 2017 recruiting class Wednesday, a 27-member group that ranked among the top five nationally by Rivals and Scout as of Wednesday morning and one that Stoops says has the potential to be among his best ever.

OU’s class, dubbed #SoonerSquad17, is comprised of 25 high schoolers and two junior college players, and features signees from nine states. Ten position groups are represented.

Twenty of the 27 signees — by far the most among Big 12 programs — are rated as four-star prospects or higher on a five-star scale by recruiting services 247Sports, ESPN, Rivals or Scout. The other seven are three-star recruits.

“On paper, this might be one of the top two or three classes we’ve had since I’ve been here,” said Stoops, who has won 10 Big 12 titles in his 18 years at OU. “It’s a really hungry group, and a deep class that covers all of our positions in a really positive way.

A former La Vega High School football standout who committed first to Baylor and then ended up at Oklahoma is free on bond and a second suspect is in custody after a string of armed robberies earlier this month.

OU freshman cornerback Parrish Cobb, 19, was released on $90,000 bond Wednesday morning after he was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.

Ayorinde Gibson, 20, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by U.S. Marshals on a warrant stemming from the same investigation.

Oklahoma has suspended Cobb, whose bonds total more than $90,000, according to online records.

Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon officially declared for the NFL Draft on Thursday night.

In a tweet, Mixon thanked Sooner Nation and vowed to make the most of the second chance he received while at University of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon will forego the remainder of his college football career and declare for the NFL Draft, according to multiple reports.

According to Jake Trotter of ESPN, Mixon informed his teammates of his decision to turn pro.

Mixon finished his sophomore season with 1,274 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns and 538 yards and five receiving touchdowns.

A report via Twitter from Neil Stratton of Inside the League indicates Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon will forego the rest of his college eligibility and enter the NFL Draft.

The report says Mixon will be represented by STL Group and agent Peter Schaffer, and train at Michael Johnson Performance in McKinney, Texas. (KFOR)

University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon won't be charged following an incident with a parking ticket attendant in November.

Mixon was suspended one game by coach Bob Stoops after he allegedly ripped up a parking ticket and threw it at the attendant. Mixon was also accused by the attendant of driving his car toward the attendant in an attempt to intimidate.

Earlier this week the Oklahoma football team left New Orleans with shiny Sugar Bowl hardware. Thursday morning, coach Bob Stoops picked up another Bayou trophy as four-star offensive tackle Adrian Ealy committed to the Sooners in a Bleacher Report video filmed in New Orleans.

The Gonzales (La.) East Ascension product is the 24th member of OU’s 2017 class, ranked No. 5 in Rivals’ team recruiting rankings. He’s also the fourth offensive lineman to join the class following three-star Shawnee talent Creed Humphrey’s commitment in August, four-star Tyrese Robinson and four-star Marquis Hayes. Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield went 19 of 28 for 296 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in Monday's 35-19 Sugar Bowl win, numbers that were good enough to give him the NCAA’s FBS record for single-season passing efficiency with 196.4.

Mayfield broke the previous record held by Wisconsin’s Russell Wilson with 191.8 in 2011.

The Sooners also set an FBS mark for team passing efficiency in a season with 193.8. Baylor held the previous mark at 191.2. (The Oklahoman)

Samaje Perine staked his claim in Sooners lore Monday night against Auburn, snatching Oklahoma's all-time rushing record from its previous owner, Billy Sims.

While the record one stood at 4,118 yards, Perine's new mark is 4,122 yards in just three years. Sims wasted no time congratulating Perine on Twitter.

After Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops finished his sessions with the media at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, he joined ESPN's Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter to discuss Perine's record-setting performance.

Monday night’s Sugar Bowl was a clash between two national powers in one of the coolest cities in America coming out of a holiday weekend. And there was hardly anyone there to witness it.

Auburn and Oklahoma drew a crowd of 54,077 at the Superdome for a 35-19 Sooners win on Monday night.

According to a report from Sports Business Daily, that’s the smallest Sugar Bowl crowd since 1939, “when TCU-Carnegie Mellon drew 44,308 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans.” (SEC Country)

Less than 12 hours after breaking Oklahoma's career rushing record, Sooners running back Samaje Perine made the announcement that he was heading to the NFL.

Perine announced his decision in an Instagram post, the morning after OU's 35-19 Sugar Bowl win over Auburn.

"Playing for Oklahoma has been an incredible experience," Perine wrote. "I am so grateful for the opportunity and everyone who has been a part of it.

Sean White said it himself during the run-up to Monday’s Allstate Sugar Bowl: “When [Auburn is] 100 percent, we’re a pretty tough team to beat.”

Without their starting quarterback, the Tigers weren’t tough to beat at all, with Oklahoma’s high-powered offense heating up in the second half and cruising to a 35-19 win.

White suffered a right forearm injury -- reportedly a broken arm -- while taking a big hit from Sooners linebacker Jordan Evans near the end of Auburn’s game-opening touchdown possession. He played three more series after taking that hit, leading the Tigers to one field goal. But once he left the game, backups John Franklin III and Jeremy Johnson were unable to score consistently -- and that was a recipe for disaster with Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield & Co. occupying the opposite sideline.

Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine became the program’s leading career rusher on Monday night in the Sugar Bowl.

Perine rushed for 86 yards by the fourth, surpassing former rushing leader Billy Sims whose 4,118 yards has been the high-water mark since 1979.

On his way to the rushing record, Perine scored one touchdown against the Tigers, bringing his total to 49 in his career.

After a season back at Oklahoma, Steve Spurrier Jr. is heading back to an on-field coaching role, according to multiple reports.

Spurrier Jr., who has been the Sooners' director of high school recruiting and offensive specialist since returning to Norman earlier this year, will become the quarterbacks coach and assistant head coach at Western Kentucky, according to Fox Sports.

Bob Stoops, who suspended Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon for the entire 2014 season after Mixon punched a female student, on Wednesday said the punishment for Mixon wasn't enough, and had the incident occurred today, Mixon's dismissal from the team would be the only acceptable outcome.

"After two and a half years, it's obvious [the suspension] wasn't enough," Stoops said. "But I feel like Joe has moved ahead in a very positive way.

Courtney "Chip" Viney, who had served as a special teams quality control coach for Oklahoma last season after his stint as a graduate assistant ended but who had a big impact in the Sooners' recruiting efforts, is moving on.

Viney was hired by former Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator Jay Norvell to join his staff at Nevada. Viney is expected to coach cornerbacks or defensive backs there.

Pro Football Focus named Sooner linebacker Caleb Kelly to its Freshman All-American Team Monday.

Wrote PFF’s Steve Palazzolo: “Kelly came on strong down the stretch, keeping the ball in front of him in coverage while finishing with a solid 70.6 grade against the run.”

This season, Kelly has recorded 24 tackles, including two for loss and a sack in 10 games, starting the last five.

The video tape of Joe Mixon punching an Oklahoma student has garnered the lion’s share of the headlines and many are asking, “What’s next?” For months now, I’ve been informed the OU running back was leaning towards entering the draft, as those in his inner circle asked for my opinion. I was consistently steadfast in my belief Mixon should return to Oklahoma for a variety of reasons. Since the release of the video, general managers around the league have told those close to Mixon he won’t get drafted, there’s a possibility he won’t be signed as a free agent and he may not even receive an invitation to the combine should he declare for the draft.
