Center Erick Wren Receives Extra Year of Eligibility

Starting center Erick Wren received news over the weekend that he was granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA, making him now a redshirt junior instead of a redshirt senior. Wren, a walk-on player until earlier this season, suffered a meniscus injury in his knee three games into his second season at Arizona Western. Wren also appeared in three games for the Sooners last year.

“It’s kind of crazy, the NCAA, they generally don’t make those decisions until he’s done with his senior year," Bedenbaugh said. "That’s how it’s happened in the past for guys. We started (the process) in the summer, but I didn’t think we were going to find out until after the season.”
