Thursday afternoon, CoachingSearch.com reported that former Oklahoma quarterback Garrick McGee was a target of Bob Stoops in his search to replace co-offensive coordinators Josh Heupel and Jay Norvell, who were fired earlier this week.

But McGee won’t be returning to his alma mater, deciding instead to stay on Bobby Petrino‘s staff at Louisville after receiving a raise, ESPN reported.

Louisville confirmed McGee would stay, releasing a statement from McGee.

“OU has a special place in my heart, but Bobby Petrino and the University of Louisville are very special to me. I love where our program is headed, and I appreciate the investment the university has made in my and my family.” (The Oklahoman)
